Malcolm Croft: artist
Visual image has always played an important part in Malcolm's life. He studied photography at college and went on to become one of the country's top newspaper photographers, winning Press Photographer of the Year in 1997.
In 2005, following a road accident which ended his career, Malcolm began to teach himself to paint. He now paints full-time at his studio in an old cotton mill on the outskirts of Manchester.
Malcolm's work soon attracted interest from galleries and collectors - group exhibitions across the north were followed by sell-out solo shows at Collect Art. As well as the Collect Art galleries in Lymm and Alderley Edge, Malcolm's work can be seen at the 'Off the wall gallery' in Cardiff.
Malcolm's paintings and his 'inspirational' story have been featured in magazines, newspapers, local radio, and on BBC television (see LINKS for footage) and are held in private collections in the UK, France, Switzerland, Pueto Rico, and the USA.
Malcolm's painting 'Still life with soup can' was shortlisted for the John Moores Contemporary Painting Prize 2010, Britain's top painting competition.
